JanFriday,

I know, you know that iPod in itself is not a complete device, and I can always rank Creative Zen higher than iPod, but still iPod is a market leader. Similarly there can be n device like iPhone, and there are already m devices some what like iPhone before iPhone, but still it will become a market leader(presently an assumption). Why I think so...you better watch these videos.

Now these videos will tell why I said that iPhone would probably become market leader in spite of the hefty price tag.

JanThursday,

Apple's I-phone, that probably wont remain I phone as Cisco people are on fire and are burning apples.

And as of me, I am not at all excited about Apples Iphone.

First of all I want to know, that is it Ipod with telecommunication abilities or a phone with Ipod capabilities. And if its phoe then where is a numberpad. I am siting far away from the launch and all the hooh plah, but still what I can see is that there is no keypad, not even a virtual one. And when I showed it to my mom, she said that this is useless, and said that why should she spend some 600$ for a phone that does not have a keypad. And even I would prefer buying an Ipod and a phone separately. And Nokia is providing me better options here in India.

Apple is too much of a US centric company, which for such products is not good. And even of US point of view, they are locked on Cingular, and I dont think Cingular is having a 100% capture over market. Battery life as it is being reported sucks. Camera...just 2GB, humph... 600$ and +, I get only a 2MP camera, 2MP is just so normal. Apple will be very late when they will come in India, which is not going to happen in coming 1 year. And if Nokia and other players in India get on the social apron, then Apple is in for some big troubles.

_____________
UPDATE:
As Abhishek has pointed out in his comment, that I have not mentioned about the cool features of Iphone, here they are...but this post was not meant to introduce you all to Iphone, which is done brilliantly over here, here and here. It was more of comment on Iphone, because when it is about gadget then one must have at least two senses at work, and I had only one, sight, and the touch was missing. And allways remember that it is a Smart Phone.
Cool features...
  • All touch screen.(Ok..wash your hands before you touch it... ;-0
  • Patented QWERTY key board(touch screen)
  • Quad-band (GSM 850/900/1800/1900)
  • Visual Voicemail (Lists all voice mails and allows to select them as in emails.)
  • On connectivity front; Bluetooth , Wi-Fi , POP3 and IMAP4 e-mail, and a Safari Web browser.
  • Few sensors; proximity sensor: dims light when brought near to body( I want that in my room , when I increase proximity...[;-)], ambient light sensor adjusts brightness and saves power, accelerometer: switches screen from landscape and portrait mode.
The big question is, whether, iPhone would be able to break in mobile market or not? iPod was successful not just because of its design but also due to iTunes, which was there as a seamless support. What none of the mobile company have is ... something like iTunes. Xpress Music phones from Nokia would certainly pose some kind of challenge to iPhones.

I am really sorry as I was unable to post on the New to brew section, And its nearly a week. You all can see that my post have also reduced, in this week and this will remain so for nearly a month to come. It is painful to say so. But over here it is exam season, so I am kinda busy in working for my grades. But still I will try to bring up one post, in two or three days. But things are tightening over here. Engineering is a tough job, and so are exams during the course. But still I would appreciate if you bring up some suggestions and rants, or any kind of criticism will be greeted with open arms.
Bye the way my exams will end on 12th of February, so it would be a hip season after that.

Hindi is one of the oldest language or can be said as the direct decedent of the oldest language, Sanskrit. Recently we covered Sanskrit Voice, a website for sanskrit language. Here I am writing about the Government of India initiative for ease of computer related use of Hindi. And the best thing about it is that it is open source. One can go to Technology Development for Indian Language website and down load most of the tools. And if you are residing anywhere in India then you can submit the form for getting a free CD. I got my CD today, though I filled form some two months back, and this is only gory point.

These are the things which they will be sending you...

Browser is our very own firefox, I havent checked which version it is, but most probably it won't be 2.0. But still if you have some one who is not well versed in english and you still want that they must use computer then you must get the CD. Other tools are also very nice and are working properly, without any bugs.

So if you want to Indianise your PC then you must get them as soon as possible.

And not only Hindi there are softwares for two other languages, that is Tamil and Telugu.

But other most prominent this which was there in background was that Indian government is trying to promote Linux OS in a sublime manner.

One fact which still stands that computer in a nation like India is still limited to educated class not because of the price factor but due to language factor. Government should try to join hands with Google to bring up online translation tool based on Google Translation.

JanSaturday,

Something new to brew...nice rhyming statement, it would be on my personal blog, very soon with detailed study.
But over here it will make its presence on every Friday, telling you that what I would like to bring up next week. I think readers should have some kind of say over my selected topics. So that whole process can get bit more interactive... Presently this blog is not having a large reader base, but yes perseverance is the key, and even a single reader would find this a dynamic blog and not a static one.
DEAD POOLS ARE NOT FOR ME.

And for coming week I will try to cover and compare two answers site.. that is Yahoo answers, and Askville a new Amazon startup.

JanFriday,

People outside my home tels me that Mac is better than Windows, but still one will find Windows in more computers than one would find a Mac. Why? Just because Windows was pirated more times than any other software in total history of computer, Why? Because what they made as an integral part for working on PC, it was the most easy way to make computer personal. Rules were never simple, and Microsoft was never nice. What Microsoft is fighting is anti-incumbency factor. Which Google would face pretty soon.
Okay, now look it this way. I spend most of my time on Orkut, one of my tab is for orkut, its like a ritual. I know that Orkut is not best of the lot, its not at all expressive, but still I am using it, Why? Just because all my friends are on Orkut, anf those friends who are not on orkut would join it soon because their other friends are on Orkut. This was not a funny statement, but instead I want you to look for the chain effect, or in other words it is peer pressure.
Apple, they are like A for computers, but still their policies are slightly flawed, they are not looking towards East, whereas Microsoft is certainly looking east. They are focusing on common man who is planning to buy a new computer, and mind you there are many new buyers, they are encouraging buyers to go for genuine Microsoft, and they have even got a competition for it. And of Apple, I dont remember when did I last saw an advertisement of Apple in newspaper. They might not be doing so in America, as they are popular over there, but in India they are not. I have no peer pressure to change and go for an Apple. And therefore I will continue using Microsoft, and presently I am using XP, I do lot of internet, and tries my level best for keeping my computer virus free, avoiding pit falls, and regularly updating my anti-virus.
And I keep on refreshing my desktop. How many times in a day do your refresh your desktop? I am thinking that I am becoming some sort of compulsive refresher.

JanThursday,

I was wondering that is this blog of mine, which is indeed a geek zone for me, should hold some of smaller posts where there is no review or preview, no commentary, nothing intelligent what so ever. I though, I realized, that if it is geeky enough then it should be on Geek Gam.

This internet world has been a bed rock of new type crimes as compared to previous century. Ok add new crimes, and these are blogging crimes...

  • Writing for Pay Per Post.
  • Digg or its clone baiting.
  • Taking inspiration from popular blogs :D , in a big way.
  • Hmmm... using PORN tags for not so raunchy content.
  • Self commenting.
Are there any more... ok then do write them in comments box.

I am still unable to understand why my sister always(nearly) gives her comments on Telephone, and write here on this blog.

When it comes to feed reading, then its Google Reader for me. I once trried few others, but the ease which it provides is certainly beyond comparison. Lets start whole topic with why I love Google, and its products. Not because they are on some what anti Microsoft stand but the are dynamic. And If you are on net then you must be dynamic.
Reader, is on with a new add on, that is trend. This little new feature allows to user to watch the previous trends which he had followed while he read his feeds.
They have not only divided statistics on the base of most read and almost inactive feeds but also the most active time and days, which make an interesting read. And not only a interesting read but also helps to unload some of feeds if you find them as dull, and static. And I think Google have used 'Tags', as they nearly always use 'Labels' for the same purpose. This might just help them to be the market leader in feed readers.
One of the few complains which I have with google is that they are really weak with community developing. Looking for an example.... http://www.google.com/reader/shared/08826823285193384074
That URL is address of my feed blog. I certainly can not remember it.
One more trouble i with its sharing option, it is not providing any customization option in sharing field. I think I should be given an option to share few feeds with my friends only, and not with whole world.
But of Trends, its really a nice service as it will help in prioritizing feed reading if in 11th hour. More over one can just share his feed reading trends, and certainly Robert Scoble would like to do so. I certainly think that this is a mere coincidence that in my previous post I discussed about a guy named Yuvi from India who has done a detailed study of Robert Scoble's blog Scobleizer and even of his feed blog, Robert on his blog have repeatedly written about his affection for Google Reader. Hey I am not in for doing a study on Scobleizer, as I have to study for the end semester examinations which are just around my neck. By the I think Google should continue with the same spirit to bring up some thing new, and keep their ever growing empire dynamic.

JanMonday,

A youth, and thats not me. Here that youth is Yuvi, a guy aged 15, from Chennai. Mind you, you would certainly question his age after you read his posts. But the point to mention is that in India blogging is certainly more of a part of youth culture than is of official culture, as there are far more blogs from youth than by middle aged man/woman.
But lets come to our point, A youth... Yuvi.
What a way to get the light, and that too international light, from just two posts.
What he is doing is very interesting, he has written 2 post analyzing Robert Scoble's blog. Robert Scoble, yeah the celebrity Robert Scoble. Analysis is certainly paranormal, and by the virtue of thse two post he got his name mentioned in Scobleizer, Scoble's Blog, which is being read by thousands a day.
What Yuvi did is one real wonderful thing and that to was matched by his impeccable analysis, based on facts in form of graphs and charts. The most intelligent part I reckon is the selection of person to be analyzed, Robert Scoble is one person who write about tech and non-tech with high amount of conviction which allows Yuvi to have larger set of data to help him analyze.
As of 2006, for any startup it was one of the important thing to be analyzed by Micheal Arrington on Techcrunch. And this would probably remain so for 2007. But here in blogosphere there is one more addition, that is, it might become and important thing to be analyzed by Yuvi as its for startups to be analyzed by Techcrunch. As of Yuvi, he got more than double, clicks on his blog after getting his name mentioned by Scoble.
He is certainly one blogger whom I am going to follow and that too closely.

Hey is there any one out there who is going to analyze Yuvi's blog....
